Information for Police Clearance Certificate

The Extract from the Criminal Record or Police clearance certificate confirms whether you have a criminal record or not. Police Clearance Certificate is a document that is issued by the National Legal Register Centre, Hämeenlinna, Finland, certifying that the applicant has never partaken in any criminal activity that led to the involvement of the Finnish National Security Police Authorities, and is also required when a person applies for an immigration status to other countries. In Finland, the criminal record information is maintained at the Legal Register Centre, Govt. national Agency. Person applying for Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) are required to state the period of stay in Finland. Documentary proof of stay is to be provided. First Entry and Last Exit date STAMP is also required. All pages of VISA (Colour Copy). It is issued to any individual who resides more than 6 months in Finland.

Procedure of Getting Police Clearance Certificate

You should specifically request a search on your entire Criminal record Extract, including Criminal Records (including lapsed criminal sentences) and investigation records. You need to provide a filled completed application form for a Police Clearance Certificate. You must fill the prescribed Consent form so that our organisation can apply for the Police Certificate on your behalf. You should complete with a Prescribed Consent form. The completed application form can be submitted at the Oikeusrekisterikeskus (National Legal Register Centre), Finland. Full set of fingerprints of both the hands obtained from the applicant’s at our lab on prescribed fingerprint form, certified by our official stamp of our organisation. The completed application form with other supporting documents are directly forwarded to (Legal Register Centre), in Finland. The (National Legal Register Centre) takes around 3 to 4 weeks under regular service, to process the application if no criminal record found and after that they send the certified criminal record check (hard copy) via regular mail.

Documents required for Police Clearance Certificate

  1. The fully completed application form or letter containing the information of applicant.
  2. The Legal Register Centre accepts free-form written applications for criminal record extracts.
  3. Full set of fingerprints of both the hands obtained from the applicant’s at our Lab.
  4. Coloured copies of the first and last Finland visas showing dates of arrival.
  5. A certified copy of Finland National identification card or registration card.
  6. Self-attested coloured photocopies of your passports.
  7. Two recent passport size photographs with white background.
  8. Completed Application Form (Personal Particular).
  9. A detailed covering letter stating the period of stay in Finland and need for the said certificate.(including full addresses of Finland where you resided)

Processing Time

We will give the original certificate within 3 to 4 weeks under regular service at the mentioned address, the processing time will increases if a person was ever charged by the police.

    Hei, I lived and worked in Finland during the period May 2006 - Mar 2008. I am now wanting to do work in New Zealand and they require that i obtain a Finnish Police Clearance certificate. I have been living back in South Africa since leaving FInland in 2008. How do I go about obtaining this Clerance certficate - I have no way of giving you my finger prints?Many thanksNathan. ?
