Information for Police Clearance Certificate

The Extract from Judicial Record or Police Clearance Certificate confirms whether you have a criminal record or not. Police Clearance Certificate is a document that is issued by the (Tribunal de Première) Tribunal Court where you resided in Benin, certifying that the applicant has never partaken in any criminal activity that led to the involvement of the Benin National Police Force, and is also required when a person applies for an immigration status to other countries. In Benin, the criminal record information is maintained at the Tribunal Court. Person applying for Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) are required to state the period of stay in Benin. Documentary proof of stay is to be provided. First Entry and Last Exit date STAMP is also required. All pages of VISA (Colour Copy). It is issued to any individual who reside more than 6 months in Benin.

Procedure of Getting Police Clearance Certificate

In Benin, there is no central repository of criminal records. You will have to write a letter to Benin Tribunal Court of the area where you resided in Benin, stating that you require a PCC and that you are authorizing our organization to collect it on your behalf. You should send a written disclosure request to Tribunal Court. Full set of fingerprints of both the hands obtained from the applicant’s at our lab on prescribed fingerprint form, certified by our official stamp of our organisation. The applicant should furnish his or her full name, date and place of birth, place and period of all residences in the Benin, including full addresses. Applicant must apply with Completed Application Form (Personal Particular) provided by our Organization for Certificate of Criminal Record. The completed Application form should be submitted at the Our Organization. The Benin Tribunal Court (Special Records office) in Benin takes 2 to 3 weeks to process the application if no criminal record found. The certificate will be posted to the forwarding address as indicated by the applicants in the application.

Documents required for Police Clearance Certificate

  1. The application form or letter containing the information of applicant.
  2. Full set of fingerprints of both the hands obtained from the applicant’s, duly attested by our Organization.
  3. Copies of the first and last Benin visas showing dates of arrival.
  4. Self-attested coloured photocopies of your passports.
  5. Two recent passport size photographs.
  6. Completed Application Form (Personal Particular).
  7. A detailed covering letter stating the period of stay in Benin and need for the said certificate. (including Addresses of Benin)

Processing Time

Processing time is reportedly a maximum of 2 to 3 weeks under regular service at the mentioned address (The processing time will increases if a person was ever charged by the police)

Before leaving our office please verify the check-list that documents in order-

  1. An application, consisting of the written request for police clearance certificate.
  2. Prescribed Fingerprint Form (or a similar fingerprint form) duly attested by our Organization.
  3. The applicant will need to provide an Authorization letter for this process.
  4. Two coloured passport size Photographs.
  5. Photocopies of Two Identification Documents.
  6. Document (s) certifying you are working, were working are or living in Benin.
  7. Processing fees for application.

    Hello, I was reading an article on your website regarding applying for a police check for benin, I studied in benin and lived there for over six month. Immigration of the present country i reside is requesting for a police check. Can an international student obtain a police check from benin for the period while i was there? ThanksAbel.. ?

    Dear sir, good day. I am a Chinese in China. I will be a employee of Delta Oil Drilling Co.ltd. to work on an oil drilling vessel and I have been required to obtain the IPCC for Benin. I understand that IPCC is a history records for a personel who have lived Benin for at least 6 month. But for me, I have not yet gone there, so I wonder why they need the IPCC for me issued from Benin ? it seems funny. Could you clarify my doubts ?Best regards,William . ?
